Will Windows Phone App Development Catches Up With Apple and Google?

Windows is the proprietary operating system of Microsoft . As computing slowly makes it paradigm shift towards mobile devices, MS has brought out Windows for the mobile device as well. Response to MS Windows powered phones is mixed with some adapting to it quickly while others feel it is way different from the desktop version. No wonder the initial versions failed to take off prompting MS to go back to its drawing board and sketch a radically new version. And this radical version called the Window 8 is making waves. It may not be the quintessential iOS (Apple) or Android (Google) killer but holds out on its own. Now that Windows 8 is attracting eyeballs, it is natural to expect a slew of apps flooding the market that work on windows platform. The flood has begun!
About Windows 8 os :-
MS stunned every soul of the tech world when it released the Windows 8. It had been selectively leaking prototypes to gauge customer reaction. This new OS seemed designed for the smartphones including tablets that primarily operate on the touch mechanism. For starters there is a Start screen that replaced decades old start menu. Programs appear as tiles which when touched (of clicked) maximize to fill the entire screen. The start screen is awash with bright contrasting colors that might either attract or put-off viewers as too gaudy. The flip side is that it has faster boot-up, in built security features, lower power consumption, USB 3. 0 and cloud computing support, and optimized installation to aid digital distribution.
For whatever reasons, Windows 8 is here to stay. And the app community has more opportunities and hence more work!
App development for Windows 8 Phones :-
MS threw open the doors for app development with the aim of rivaling the more popular iPhone application development or iPad application development. Encouraging app development for phones running Window 8, MS allowed the app community to indulge in Windows phone app development, albeit with some conditions:
· Optimized to perform in touch screen environment
· Must be able to dock on the side bar when minimized
· Dynamic content to display on the start screen as a tile
· Options to easily search and share should rest with every app
· Option to integrate seamlessly with social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter)
· Option to search and aggregate items from other services (like images from Flickr)
The Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) offered by MS are called Windows Runtime and supports HTML5. To enhance security and stability of the operation, MS requires apps to seek permission to access services outside their jurisdiction, for example, internet or camera.
Like Apple or Google Play, MS established the Windows Store to retail windows phone apps. Endeavour is underway by mobile application development companies to develop apps on this new mobile enterprise application platform for their clients.
Prospects
Aficionados of Windows in the app community are sure to develop scalable robust apps like mobile retail, mobile banking or mobile health to name a few. At present many firms use the MS Windows for their enterprise computing systems. The launch of Windows mobile version will enable mobility conjuring up the nickname of Mobile Enterprises. With more incentives from MS, the app world will definitely see more traction and variety.
